One of these instruments have been modified to allow introduction of reagent gases for ion-molecule reactions. Ionization techniques available on these instruments include: electrospray ionization (ESI), atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI), nanospray-ESI and atmospheric pressure matrix assisted laser desorption (AP-MALDI).
