{"id":192,"date":"2016-03-27T21:07:35","date_gmt":"2016-03-28T01:07:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/elements.chem.umass.edu\/youlab\/?page_id=192"},"modified":"2025-11-20T10:44:00","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T14:44:00","slug":"dr-mingxu-you","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/elements.chem.umass.edu\/youlab\/people\/dr-mingxu-you\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Mingxu You"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><a href=\"http:\/\/elements.chem.umass.edu\/youlab\/files\/2016\/03\/Mingxu-You-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-548\" src=\"https:\/\/elements.chem.umass.edu\/youlab\/files\/2016\/03\/Mingxu-You-1-1024x1001.jpg\" alt=\"mingxu-you\" width=\"262\" height=\"256\" srcset=\"https:\/\/elements.chem.umass.edu\/youlab\/files\/2016\/03\/Mingxu-You-1-1024x1001.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/elements.chem.umass.edu\/youlab\/files\/2016\/03\/Mingxu-You-1-300x293.jpg 300w, https:\/\/elements.chem.umass.edu\/youlab\/files\/2016\/03\/Mingxu-You-1-768x751.jpg 768w, https:\/\/elements.chem.umass.edu\/youlab\/files\/2016\/03\/Mingxu-You-1-250x244.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 262px) 100vw, 262px\" \/><\/a>Dr. Mingxu You is the principal investigator of the lab. \u00a0He joined the University of Massachusetts at Amherst as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry in September 2016, and promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in June 2022. \u00a0He is now also a faculty member of Institute for Applied Life Sciences, \u00a0Chemistry-Biology Interface Program, Molecular &amp; Cellular Biology Graduate Program, Center for Biological Physics, Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences, and Center for Autonomous Materials at UMass.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Mingxu grew up in Heilongjiang, China. \u00a0He received his B.S. degree in Chemistry from Peking University in 2008, and his Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from the University of Florida in 2012. \u00a0During his doctoral study under the direction of Prof. Weihong Tan, Mingxu focused on developing DNA-based devices for cancer diagnosis, targeted drug delivery, and cell membrane biophysical studies. \u00a0Prior to join UMass, he pursued his postdoctoral research with Prof. Samie R. Jaffrey at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, interested in developing RNA-based fluorescent sensors for imaging metabolites and signaling molecules in live cells.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Dr. You has co-authored over 90 journal articles and 5 book chapters. \u00a0Most of his work has been published in top journals including <em>Nature Nanotechnology<\/em><em>, <\/em><em>Nature Chemistry<\/em><em>, Nature Chemical Biology, PNAS, JACS, Angewandte Chemie<\/em>, <em>Nucleic Acids Res<\/em>, <em>Nano Lett<\/em>, <em>ACS Nano<\/em>, <em>Anal Chem<\/em>, and <em>Chem Sci.<\/em>\u00a0 His work has been highly recognized with &gt;7,000 citations. \u00a0In addition, he has given ~40 invited seminars in top universities and research institutes in the U.S. and China.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Office<\/strong>: 867 LGRT, University of Massachusetts,\u00a0710 N.
