Our group received a second federal grant!

Our proposed collaborative project, titled “GCR: Bioengineered Approaches to Recover Critical Minerals and Produce Sustainable Silicon-Based Materials from Silicon-Rich Wastes“, has received an award of $3,300,000 from National Science Foundation (NSF), Growing Convergence Research (GCR) Program! In this study, we will design novel enzymes to upcycle silicon wastes into sustainable silicon-based materials. This project is collaborative with Prof. Mingjiang Tao (WPI, PI), Prof. Xijin Zhang (George Mason), Prof. Jian Luo (UCSD), Prof. Xudong Fan (U Buffalo), Prof. Carrick M. Eggleston (WPI), Prof. Yan Wang (WPI), Prof. John C. Beverley (U Buffalo), and Prof. Monique L. van Hoek (George Mason).
